Hey hey hey! Oh, Lordy – r3 is really moving around these days! People
are all over the place. We were up in the North-West suburbs (in
Arlington Heights) visiting Trick Drums. They are doing some really
innovative stuff over there.
It seems in the past five decades there haven’t really been many
changes or progressions in the design and manufacturing of drum-kits.
Most producers seem content to simply reproduce and sell, essentially,
the same drum-type over and over and over again. But not at Trick.
At Trick, the president of the company (Mike Dorfman) is really making
some serious changes. Using Mike’s background in sports-racing
technologies, Trick is creating new features and new methods of
production to maximize the acoustics of their drums, increase the
efficiency of their pedals and generally make their equipment rock-out
harder than Neil Peart in one of his wet dreams.
The HAQUE session is tonight; as of now, we have 17 confirmed guests,
apparently, showing up tonight, at Invisible Records (3319 S.
Lituanica) to learn soldering and x-box modification. As always, this
is hands-on education. Should be good! Check back later to hear how it
went!
