It’s all an opportunity. It’s all potential success or potential failure. You choose. You choose by the way you act, how you speak, what you do, with whom you interact, and how you view the world.
It is hard starting new ventures. There are major speed bumps, broken bones, sleepless nights… There are adrenalized conversations, excited emails, brilliant ideas…
So, where are we? We are three and a half weeks into a new school… What does that mean in real world terms? 1,437 times “fuck” has been used as a complete sentence, 2 toys circuit bent, 1 Xbox hacking business started, 1 broken toll booth gate, 1 broken ankle, 1 flooded basement, 5 days with spotty internet, 472 new opportunities, 100s of new emails a day, 3 new facebook accounts, 3 out of town trips, 0 available business cards, 25 dozen cookies, 40 Little Ceaser’s pizzas, 2 field trips, 30 cases of RedBull, and 14 students ready to do more.
So, what’s next? Now we work to fill the next session. We work to fill the weekend and special sessions. We try to do what we love, and show other people how to do that too.

What is r3 like? It’s crazy, it’s stressful, it’s inspiring and it’s brilliant. I have not worked this hard in a long time, nor have I had so much fun…
In the last week, I have taught students: how to set up gmail and multiple accounts in gmail, twitter accounts, facebook accounts and fan pages; write blog posts; edit word press; what 10% of bar looks like financially to a touring artist; how to eat awesome brisket as a fajita; that patent IS different that copyright; how to create a plan for indie artist career development; how to play with an 11 month old; mediation and negotiation techniques; delegation skills; teaching skills; communication is key for successful relationships; hard work pays off.
I have learned: how to build a kick-ass sound proof studio wall; there are cool office tools that make life so much easier; my daughter is a flirt; how to work tweetdeck; Butterfinger is not the best candy out there; nobody waters the cucumbers; Reggies is a great business to work with.
It is amazing to be working with students that are so excited and so willing to learn. It is so cool to be learning with them.
